Total Physiotherapy offers extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT), using the Original Swiss Dolorclast Method.
Supported by clinical studies and scientific research, the Swiss Dolorclast combines the effect of different healing factors to bring about relief even if pain is persistent. Application of the Swiss Dolorclast has been shown to improve blood circulation and revascularization, improve metabolic activity and cell regeneration. Shock waves also intensify the analgesic effect by over stimulating the nerve fibres thus blocking an increase in pain stimuli.
Appropriate use of the Swiss Dolorclast ESWT, has demonstrated effectiveness in the treatment of chronic tendinopathies, including Achilles tendonosis, patellar tendinopathies, tennis/golfers elbow, and rotator cuff tendinopathies. Effective results are also noted for plantar fasciitis and myofascial trigger points.
Following a comprehensive musculoskeletal exam, accurate diagnosis, and establishment of a treatment plan, ESWT may be recommended with known effectiveness for appropriate conditions. ESWT is not appropriate for all conditions, and alternative and/or adjunct treatment options will be considered for every patient on an individual basis. Outcome measures completed on each patient receiving ESWT will assist us in further determining appropriate patient selection.
ESWT provided by a registered physiotherapist is covered in full or part under most extended health benefit plans. For more information on Swiss Dolorclast ESWT, visit shockwaves.ems-medical.com
